James (JB) Brown (GARDEN CITY)
Mr. James (JB) Brown, 76, of Garden City, died Thursday morning, Jan. 14,2010 at Memorial Medical Hospital.

Born Sept. 23,1933 in Effingham County, to Willie and Annie Mae Andrews Brown, who precede him in death along with five brothers: Willie James Hayes, Carnell Brown, Damon Andrews, Nathaniel Brown and Sydney Brown, and one sister: Bernice Morris.

He attended the public schools of Chatham County, and later served in the U.S. Army. After leaving and working various jobs, he moved to Atlantic City, N.J. Coming back to Savannah, he worked and later retired from the ILA Local 1414. Traveling and fishing were his hobbies, but after his health slowed him down, he devoted his time transporting the sick to doctors appointments or helping family and friends move. He enjoyed visiting his daughter and grandchildren in Beaufort, S.C. and attending his grandchildren's games. Everyone loved him because he would do anything for anyone.

He leaves to mourn a beautiful and loving wife, Beatrice Brown, four daughters: Terracita Brown Washington (Jacob) of Beaufort, S.C., Vivian King (Robert), Jacquelyn Vinson, Ava Ancrum (James); two sons: Jerome Houston Brown (Sarah), and Alvin Patilla, 21 grandchildren: Sgt Kamilah Hendry, Afghanistan, Latisha Hendry, Charleston, S.C., Ricky Murphy, Atlanta, Ga., Sr. Airman Tanya Maxwell, Az., Timothy King (Komp), Las Begs, Nev., Robert King (Mytasha), Mobile, Ala., Natasha Hills (Jacinto), LaChandra King, Henry Levine, Eric Vinson, Rosalyn Stroman (Navon), Brian Vinson, Alacia Patilla, Jolisa Bedgood, Adrianne Patilla, A. Jamal King, James (JR) Ancrum, Sydney Ancrum; 60 greatgrandchildren; one sister, Laura Lovett; four sister in laws: Anna Andrews, Eathel Lee Brown, Bonnie Braziel and Inez Anderson; one brother, John Henry Brown; one grandaunt, Mertle Coke, all of Savannah. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be held Friday, January 22 at lpm at Fairlawn Baptist Church, 4719 Augusta Road, Garden City, Ga Visitation Thursday, January 21 from 7pm-8pm In the Chapel of Sidney A. Jones & Campbell Funeral Services 124 W Park Avenue. Savannah, Georgia.
