June 18, 2012 - Bertha Lee Box Mincey Usher, age 87 of Lyons, died Wednesday, June 13, 2012 in the Meadows Regional Medical Center in Vidalia after a brief illness. She was a native of Greenwood, South Carolina; living in Lakeland and Orlando, Florida most of her life and in Toombs County for the past year. She was employed with Southern Bell in Lakeland for twenty years and was Baptist by faith. She was preceded in death by two husbands, Vernon Lee Mincey and Ottie Usher; and four children, James Mincey and three infants.

Usher is survived by four children, Watson G. Mincey of Ft. Pierce, Florida, Wayne Mincey and wife Jackie of Lyons, Vera Jane Marshall and husband Tommy of Bartow, Florida, and David W. Mincey of Fellsmere, Florida; one sister, Fannie Mae Johnson of Charleston, South Carolina; one brother, Melvin T. Box of Miami, Florida; 16 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Saturday, June 16 at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Rev. Glenn Waters officiating. Burial will follow later in Pleasant Hill Church Cemetery near Portal.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 1-2:45 p.m.
