June 14, 2012 - Emory Luke, age 96 of Higgston, died Wednesday, June 13, 2012 in the Community Hospice House in Vidalia after an extended illness. He was born and grew up in Turner County, living in Tennille and Statesboro for many years and has resided in the Vidalia area since 1988. He was the parts manager at Franklin Chevrolet in Statesboro several years and was a member of the Statesboro Masonic Lodge. He was a member of the Tabernacle Baptist Church and the Ready Men's Sunday School Class. Luke was an avid golfer and fisherman and was a preceded in death by his wife, Eloise B. Luke; his son-in-law, Charles Roberts and 10 siblings.
Luke is survived by two children, Delacy Luke and wife Pam of Greensboro and Patricia Roberts of Higgston; five grandchildren, Patrick Luke and wife Alicia of Nashville, Tennessee, Marilyn Luke Barlow and husband Jeb of Little Rock, Arkansas, Rodney Roberts and wife Charity of Statesboro, Rickey Roberts and wife Kathy of Higgston, and Reggie Roberts and wife Carmen of Vidalia; nine great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held Saturday, June 16th at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Rev. Gene Helton officiating. Burial will follow in Lakeview Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home of Friday evening, 6-8 p.m.
