Oct. 9, 2012 - With the leaves changing colors, temperatures cooling and fall produce on the way; the Forsyth Farmers' Market is already making preparations for the 2013 season. Following an unprecedented summer attendance, the market will be hosting a community event designed to celebrate the market's success and at the same time bring awareness to its need for sponsors and volunteers.

On Oct. 20, 2012, The Forsyth Farmers' Market will be hosting "Digging In: A Fall Celebration" - an event to kick off a campaign to raise money and attract new volunteers for the market and ensure a successful 2013 season. Because of the overwhelming popularity of the market, the need for volunteers and sponsors is greater than ever and the Forsyth Farmers' Market needs your help. Current supporters and members of the advisory board will be on site for the event and will gladly take interested newcomers and potential volunteer participants on a tour of the market and answer any questions.

The Forsyth Farmers' Market is hoping to raise $25,000 in addition to the regular vendor fees to help secure the future of the market and the ability to provide fresh, healthy, and locally grown food that people of Savannah and the Low Country have loved and grown accustomed to. In addition, the market will feature a special installment of its highly attended canning series hosted by Jackie Ogden from the Chatham County Cooperative extension. The canning demonstration starts at 10 a.m. and will concentrate on "Preserving the Harvest."

Interested parties are encouraged to visit the special market tent during the event.

Refreshments and door prizes are awaiting shoppers and new volunteers.
