Thursday, October 25, 2012 8:00 PM
Oct. 26, 2012 - Chatham County residents training to be part of the county's Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) will take part in disaster simulation training Sunday.
The simulation will take place at Southside Fire Station #3, 2009 Grove Point Road, from 2-4 pm.
More than a dozen volunteers completed a 20 hour basic CERT course and now these Chatham County residents will put into practice the skills they learned in the classroom over the past two weeks. Fire suppression, basic first aid skills, and light search and rescue are just some of the skills that will be part of the disaster simulation. Numerous volunteers will play victims in the simulated disaster.
The Chatham County CERT program trains citizens how to respond in the event of a disaster or emergency in order to protect their families and their communities.
